Part 2 - Worth The Weight: Building Spiritual Muscle During A Season of Waiting

When you are in the liminal space, restlessness is a default landing. The familiarity of the self you desire to grow beyond and the uncertainty of who you will become can war within you causing all sorts of distress. This default lends itself to an idle mind. When you are listening to your Creator with your whole being there is no space to wait idly because it is an active process not a passive one. With committed practice to actively listen for God you build the spiritual muscle that strengthens your discernment.

The war of restlessness can not persist in a state of clarity. The liminal space presents to us an accumulation of unprocessed information we've gathered over a course of time and possibilities we've yet to experience. While all this information situated in this space can be overwhelming, it can actually be a powerful position when approached intentionally. Envision a portal or like a birth canal, this is the space between you and your rebirth. In this portal of sorts, you are tasked with clearing space and filtering, leaving behind what you can no longer carry forward. This is where that discernment comes in handy. A lack of discernment in the liminal space will leave you in a "traipse state", meandering aimlessly. Discernment will give you the confidence to decide what can come with you. It wouldn't serve you to throw the baby out with the bathwater, your time in this waiting space pulls out a seat for you to sit at the table and reflect on the lessons you've accumulated. Reflection gives you the power to reappraise your experience. What new perspective can you accept that empowers you? How might you expand your self-compassion by granting yourself grace, mercy, and forgiveness? Clearing space and filtering via the practice of reflection is a form of preparation in the waiting place. So get them reflective reps in!

As you move towards more clarity you are preparing yourself for a smooth exit from the liminal space, but right at the edge of the transition is the very place we started…the test of patience. Once you've prayed and prepared, how will you handle the time needed to regenerate and integrate? Both these processes call for patience. How might you exercise patience in this phase? I’ve found resting and waiting in confidence most helpful, because at this point liminal space is no longer a place of dread and uncertainty, it is a safe house. In resting, I encourage you to hold gratitude in your heart and allow praise to flow from you generously.

Are you able to see how mindful waiting can shift your experience within the liminal space? Can you see how waiting can actually be a place of refuge? So many transformative happenings can be experienced inside of you even when what's outside appears differently. I'm thankful to know this and even more grateful to share my overflow with you.
