MEET VOËL

Voël is a writer, multidisciplinary artist, mental health advocate, and community change agent from Memphis, TN. Her work in the community strives to promote change through inspiring self awareness. She illustrates her testimony through her art, publicly embodying the vulnerability of tribulations that come with the complex realities of being African American, disabled, and woman.

As a mindfulness guide, she has held several private and public engagements, online meditations, and sister circles. She has spoken on Mental Health and Travel as a featured guest speaker for the 2019 Nomadness Travel Tribe Audacity Fest. She has led the Memphis Quarantine and Heal city wide group virtual meditation, introducing wellness advocates to the community. She premiered her short film FemiNINE at Theatre Works and continues to develop work in the realm of writing and film/production to further advocate for Mental Health through art.

As an active partner of the Coalition for Youth Mental Health, she is currently teaming with community developers, counselors/therapists, and artists to set the foundation for Mental Health initiatives developed for Memphis youth. She is also featured as a muse in the Heartbeat & Soul mural painted by muralist Jamond Bullock and Erik Okdeh through the Urban Art Commission at the newly renovated Memphis International Airport Concourse B.
